if you’re happy and you know it, wag your tail…

after cici played with pongo her lookalike doggie boyfriend and a few other dogs at the dog park, we discovered a wonderful pet place … it is located right in the same mall as the grocery store, Raley’s, on south Carson (395) where I shop almost every day.  the pet place is called sierra lebone… the owner,Lynda, is very friendly, knowledgeable and a true dog lover. I called her because I wanted to check out the pet food and then I found out that they were having a free dog training class which they do almost every Saturday from 9-10 am.

cici was treated like a queen.  Lynda and the trainer, barbara, were very loving towards her. cici has never been in a situation where she had to be around dogs but not play with them, so it was challenging for her, we stood in lines and walked the dogs around a ring, like show dogs. it was already very hot at 9:30 am.  barbara told me to correct cici whenever she tried to lick the other dogs and she was also being very vocal.  cici got a lot of treats and a few applauses for being a good girl. after class, i was a little woozy from the heat and received a few samples to take home. we went back in the late afternoon for some dog food and got some California Natural food which i have not tried before. Also, got some samples of Honest Kitchen Thrive, Embark, and Force as well as Innova Evo, Evanger, Wenaewe and some Wagatha and other healthy treats.

the store has an abundance of delicious wheat free food, treats, raw foods, and all kinds of pet supplies from beds to leashes, collars and toys. And they are going to be offering dog massage and other services soon.

Everyone loves Cici and she’s a happy girl. She scarfed up some of the new food and keeps looking for more. that’s my girl…(not the photo, just thought this is a cute photo of a girl with her dog)…

The other day Rachael Ray made some dog cakes that she makes for Isaboo, her dog… the recipe was interesting…

doggie cakes

chicken broth
turkey bacon crumbled up
bread crumbs
make into cakes and bake them

  1. Going Green Home Remedy for Pets not found in your pet supplies store.

For natural flea control – groom your pet daily. Use a fine toothed flea comb. Bathe your pet a natural pet shampoo that has flea repellent herbs. During summer wash your pet’s bedding in hot soapy water weekly and dry in hot dryer.

Flea killer: Dawn dishwashing liquid, add a few drops to your dog’s bath and shampoo. Rinse well and kiss the fleas good bye!

Dog odor: When your dog comes in from the rain or outdoors, wipe him down with a dryer sheet, that will make him smell good!

Dog odor on the carpet: Sprinkle baking soda and wait 15 minutes then vacuum it up, it is safe for the pets and will smell nice again.

Stickers – Use a stainless steel comb with wide teeth to pull out stickers from the fur before matting begins. Or else you can use your fingers to pull them out. If you find the sticker deep inside the ear making it difficult to remove, put some warm vegetable or mineral oil in the ear to soften it and take your pet to the vet.

“Whoever said you can’t buy happiness forgot about puppies.” !!

  2. I would NEVER use dawn dishwashing liquid, NOT green except maybe it’s color, for fleas, pennyroyal aromatherapy oil is supposed to be good to get rid of the pesky bugs…

I also would NEVER recommend dryer sheets, not green and quite TOXIC for humans and animals… you can use lavendar essential oils or other aromatherapy oils to make your pet smell good… they are green and natural and nontoxic.
