south lake tahoe pet friendly

3 peaks resort in south lake tahoe

the logo for this resort is a st bernard in hawaiian shorts… this very dog friendly property is conveniently located across from a shopping center with grocery store (Raley’s) and near to the casinos. There is a private beach nearby where guests can go with their dogs on leash. The 3 peaks resort has cozy upscale rooms and suites, our suite #305 had parking right outside the front and back doors, a kitchenette, living room with gas fireplace, tub and shower, and bedroom and two tv’s.

there is grass all around the property as well as pet waste bags on site. dogs are allowed in the lobby and in the swimming pool area. There are four suites in the pool area that have enclosed patios. There is a wireless computer in the lobby as well as wireless in the room and suites. Check-in was very easy. there are various kinds of rooms from motel rooms (like cute log cabins) with two beds, fridge, coffeemaker, junior one bedroom suites and larger king two bedroom suites as well as a stand alone cabin. All 62 rooms are pet friendly.

the pet fee is $20 per pet pet night … pet amenities: treats (organic) in the lobby… as well as coffee and tea…

Lake Tahoe has a new 38,000 square foot, off-leash dog park in the Bijou Community Park. And when the pets are tuckered out, there are more than 20 pet-friendly lodging properties in the area.

A new dog-friendly beach is almost complete near Regan Beach. There isn’t a whole lot of details finalized at this point, but you’re able to see the buoys out there now. For more information about the beach: http://www.recreationintahoe.com/outdoor_recreation/regan_beach. Kiva beach, located on the south end of town, is a popular dog-friendly beach.

Several outdoor restaurants will allow dogs in the warmer months, including Sprouts Natural Café and The Brewery.

Dog Dog Cat is a great pet store located near the Heavenly Village that has a lot of unique gifts for your 4 legged friends.

Fallen Leaf Lake and trails by Kirkwood/Hope Valley are also favorite places to take dogs.

washing the dog green…

Vermont Soap Organics Pet Wash smells soooo yummy and is a safe, nontoxic and delicious way to make cici’s fur feel sooooo soft… can’t say that she likes baths any better but this definitely makes a HUGE difference to me, knowing that I can get her clean without harsh chemicals… and this pet wash also protects her against fleas and ticks !

this product has none of that fake synthetic smell, it is good for the planet and good for the dogs !

Cici’s light pink / white skin is very sensitive and the essential oils really work to clean her and get her smelling sooooo good… i have put some of the pet wash onto a wash cloth with warm water and soaped her down, this is the easiest way for me to wash her without too much balking.

Vermont Soap Organics Pet Shampoo is made from organic coconut, olive and jojoba oils, organic aloe vera, and a combination of natural and organic essential oils. Natural rosemary extract is the only preservative. This eco-friendly natural liquid soap product is extraordinarily mild, hypoallergenic, and free of petroleum or animal by-products. It meets all USDA Organic Food Standards. Their factory and products are certified by NOFA and Vermont Organic Farmers (VOF).

Vermont Soap Organics does not engage in harmful animal testing. They did however, wash a lot of pets after they came up with this formula.

The American Pet Products Manufacturer Association (APPMA) estimates that there are approximately 65 million dogs and 77.7 million cats in the U.S.

Synthetic detergents contain many ingredients which are toxic and harmful to our four legged friends. Instead, conscientious pet owners should use natural liquid soap products designed with your pets health and well-being in mind. Dogs should be bathed every month to remove accumulated toxins that can make them more susceptible to disease. However, excessive bathing, especially with improper cleaning products, may remove natural oils and dry out a pet’s skin and coat.

Many animals develop sensitivities to the detergent chemicals commonly used in pet shampoos today. Because no chemical detergents, synthetic fragrances, colors, or antimicrobial preservatives are used in Vermont Soap Organics Pet Shampoo, the possibility of sensitivity reactions is greatly reduced. The natural essential oil blend also helps to repel fleas and ticks without poisoning your pet.

Instructions: Using warm water, wet pet thoroughly. Apply Vermont Soap Organics Pet Shampoo from head to tail, gently massage deep into coat and skin. Rinse well with warm water.

downtown Monterey…

if you want to stay at a hotel that is in walking distance to the beach and fisherman’s wharf, then the Portola Hotel & Spa may be the place for you. Our room was on the 5th floor and had a patio, a view of the ocean, and the room was very nice, with two beds, desk, and several chairs. there were chocolate chip cookies for me and some fruit in the room.

The hotel’s seventh floor is the only floor that offers guests all of the amenities, larger guestrooms, breathtaking views of the Monterey Bay, complimentary breakfast, wireless internet and more.

you have to pay $20 or $17 for parking (valet or self) or you can park for free on the street, a block away but have to move your car every two hours.

the spa services are extra, but you can use the swimming pool and jacuzzi…

the Portola Hotel & Spa currently is in the process of achieving the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification, and participates actively in several programs dedicated to conserving environmental resources.

there are several wine tasting rooms across the street from the downtown hotel, terranova and wine from the heart, the latter is pet friendly as long as your dog is well-behaved, and they offer boutique wines from the Monterey area. there are also several pet friendly shops in walking distance as well as the fisherman’s wharf, beach, restaurants, a movie theatre and maritime museum.

Del monte shopping center is five minutes away.

The hotel has recently become pet friendly and will be offering pet
amenities and a pet package that was not yet implemented while we were there. Apparently, you will be given pet amenities upon request…

# Pet Accessories on Request

* Pet Beds
* Leashes
* Water & Food Bowls

You can also request a special package such as whale watching or movie tour…

Not your average Big Bear, boo boo

EAGLES NEST B&B

We stayed in the Sierra Madre log cabin, with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and jacuzzi tub in bathroom. It is about five minutes from the lake. There is some grass to explore around the property and neighborhood. There are 10 rooms, one pet cabin. Breakfast was fresh fruit, melons and pineapple, fruit juices, baked goods and egg souffle with ham and potatoes. We sat outside, cici and I, with other guests from England and Canada. Cici enjoyed meeting dogs in the neighborhood as well as squirrels, chipmunks and other critters around the lake and property.

Pet amenities: two bowls, big bag of treats, toy, sheet and towel
Pet fee: $10 per pet per night, two pets maximum

Guests with pets have to sign pet policies waiver that says you will be charged $25 per piece of furniture if there is pet hair found plus $25 charge if dog waste is not picked up. And if there are missing items from the pet basket, there will be a $20 charge.
