About me & Cici…

About the Blogger

I’m CeliaSue Hecht: writer, editor, seminar leader, publicity consultant and spoiler of a polka dot princess named Cici who I rescued.

I’ve never been a porn star, a pawn star, a stripper, or visited a prostidude aka hired a gigolo. And I have never been to prison, court-ordered rehab, abducted by aliens or been splashed across the cover of a salacious weekly gossip tabloid with my lady parts on display. Although I have been known to write about some of these topics.

I’m a Sagittarius/Scorpio on the cusp, oldest child, and a formidable proponent of my passions, dogs/animals, romance, music, movies, beach/nature, poetry, travel and women’s rights. I read a lot, from dog books to romantic comedies.  I have been to 275 cities. I don’t drink coffee, gives me white spots in front of my eyes. And frankly,my polka dot princess has enough spots.

More silly things to learn about me…

Here’s a bit more background about me. If you like this blog, which certainly involves writing and editing, I hope you’ll check out my credentials, and hire me to do some work for you. Pawty !

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Education from Florida Atlantic University; edited various newspapers and newsletters for nonprofit organizations;  written hundreds of articles for 40+ publications, co-authored five romantic travel guides, assisted various authors in getting their manuscripts published, typed and edited movie and TV scripts in Hollywood, transcribed Barbra Walters’ interviews with luminaries such as Ronald Reagan and obtained publicity and promoted events for clients such as best-selling authors, doctors, entrepreneurs, CEO’s, CPA’s, seminar leaders and speakers.

I had two cats for five years, worked for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and led a fairly nomadic (traveled around the world to Bangladesh, Canada, England, France, Germany, Holland, India, Israel, Thailand from 1987-89 with an interfaith prayer ministry) but dogless life until 2007, when I rescued Cici, my diva dog. Having an adorable canine (4 year old Dalmatian and pit bull terrier) who attracts tons of attention, mostly positive, but on occasion negative, due to her so-called pit bull terrier nature, I have had challenges which I rant and write about.

To put it lightly.

I have researched about pit bulls and met three of the former Michael Vick’s dogs. I have been known to obsess about dogs and pit bulls.  I have contributed dog stories to such publications as Bay Woof, Salem News, Pet Folio magazine, in Reno, Nevada, Best Friends magazine and others.

Now I write regularly every day. And I write this blog. But while dogs and travel are my passions, along with chocolate, I still do a good deal of dog-free and travel-free writing and editing. Such as writing ebooks about financial topics and assisting wanna be authors in getting published.

Ok, go check out my websites,   you name it, I write/edit it, http://celiasueink.wordpress.com/about/

About the Dog

http://dogdoc12.wordpress.com/

http://ohmydogblog.com/2011/02/positively-pit-bull-meet-cici

I usually tell people that my Dalmatian/terrier is a social butterfly who likes people more than I do, that she is my pup-lick relations assistant and that she cannot hold her licker. All of which is true but cici would probably tell you in woofs, barks and funny noises while showing off her pink polka dot belly that she was born and raised in a shelter in Las Vegas. She may be related to the infamous Mendocino Dot Dog who had puppies in Las Vegas after leaving Mendo. She was adopted by some people who wanted a guard dog. Cici is NOT a guard dog and she was put in the middle of a domestic violence situation. It was dangerous and I rescued her from the situation when Cici was just six months old.  She will be six years old in a few months.  (Aug. 1, 2012)

From there, Cici and I traveled to 29 Palms and Joshua Tree and then Sequoia National Park and came back to Carson City, Nevada where we lived on a farm. The farm had chickens, cows, horses, llamas and sheep. After several months, we traveled to Ashland, Oregon and eventually found a new home in Gardnerville, NV.

Our adventures continued in 2008. We left Gardnerville, NV for greener pastures including Bullhead City, Green Valley, Sedona and Tucson, Arizona, and Jean and Primm, NV outlet malls and Laughlin and Mesquite, Nevada. The summer of 2008, we spent ruffing it camping and stayed in motels and yurts in Ashland, Crater Lake, Eugene, Florence, Klamath Falls, and Medford. The summer of 2009, we camped out and stayed mostly in Mendocino and Monterey. The summer of 2010 was spent at a horse ranch in Vacaville, Ca. We have stayed at the Ritz Carleton, Hilton, Best Westerns, Luxury Spas, LaQuinta and Motel 6′s and all types of lodging in between.

In California, some of the places we’ve traveled to include Ahwanee, Bodega Bay, Calistoga, Cambria, Carmel, Crescent City, Eureka, Garberville, Guerneville, Half Moon Bay, Healdsburg, Huntington Beach, Idyllwild, Indio, Irvine, Jenner, Lake Oroville, Mendocino, Menlo Park, Monterey, Napa, Nevada City, Newport Beach, Orick, Pacific Grove, Palm Springs, Paso Robles, Philo, Rutherford, San Diego, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol and Sonora, CA… So many places to list!

Cici has played with more than 600 dogs at dog parks, dog beaches and at homes… her favorites dogs are Golden Retrievers, Australian Shepherds and Labs and Labradoodles, ok, Jack Russells and Boxers, too, but she also has had fun with Blue Heelers, Border Collies, Cairn Terriers, Dalmatians, Daschunds, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Goldendoodles, Great Danes, Hound dogs, King Charles Spaniels, mutt mixes, Poodles, Queensland Heelers, Shiz Tsu’s, and more…

Cici has visited deserts, redwood forests (Armstrong Woods, Avenue of the Giants and Jackson Forest), lakes, rivers, ocean beaches, stayed at an RV Park and listened to Elks mating in Orick, met Santa Claus, and so much more !

She thinks she is the welcoming committee and official greeter at Borders book store, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s, pet friendly wineries such as Navarro’s and Toulouse in Anderson Valley, as well as many other venues.

CeliaSue welcomes hiring Cici out for her foot washing and shoe cleaning services. Cici is also available for tail wagging, sniffing out cats, chasing bikes, skateboards and motorcycles, and bug and lizard stalking.  (see our blog post about starting a foot licking salon).

About the Blog’s Name
Like many blogs, this one evolved from Cuppa Writing for the Soul to Travel, She Wrote to Have Dog Blog will Travel. The name is thanks to travel writers exchange who suggested i just talk plain and tell folks what my blog is about through the title and photo of cici, duh. we are still a work in progress and imagine this blog will continue to evolve over time.

Folks take photos of cici all the time, some suggest that she would look great in a movie, or as a dog model. If anyone wants to volunteer to train her, that would be fine. I am not the most patient person to do so. Although I think that Cici should earn her keep around here and do some work in exchange for room and board, especially in these stressful economic times. Gainful employment and making people laugh… bow wowsa…

I am active fighting BSL in Denver who has killed 2000 innocent pets since 2005. I also am in rescue and network help for dogs/horses daily.
I brought a sweet pitboy named Mustafa to Channel 9News in Denver for Petline9, they refused him because he was a pitbull. The discrimination needs to end – our story is on the Best Friends campaign website, please check it out.

  12. CiCi looks like Arthur who was scammed from our rescue. We are raising the money to hire an attorney to get him back through the courts system. No one will help us.
