Stand Up for Pibbles

Angels come in all forms. And many pibble (pit bull) owners would say that their canine is an angel come to earth to teach humans all about love, compassion and kindness.

One of these angel canines just happens to be named Angel. Her guardian, actress and comedian Rebecca Corry seeks to create safe and humane communities for humans and animals and to raise awareness about the abuse and discrimination against pit bull terriers and discuss solutions for this growing problem.

Some of Rebecca’s guest star appearances include: “The King of Queens,” “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Rules Of Engagement,” “Rizzoli and Isles,” as well as appearances on “The Wayne Brady Show,” NBC’s “Late Friday,” “Comics Unleashed,” E’s 101 series,” Vh1s “Best Week Ever,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and her own 1/2 hour Comedy Central Presents 1/2 hour special.

On May 16th 2013 the HUFFINGTON POST announced Corry’s plan to march on Washington  DC http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/16/one-million-pibble-march_n_3280839.html?1368716232 and more recently she discussed her thoughts on President Barack Obama coming out against BSL and joining the fight for Pit Bulls http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/20/obama-breed-specific-legislation_n_3785911.html?utm_hp_ref=dc

Rebecca Corry’s pit bull terrier, Angel was found roaming the streets of Los Angeles as a victim of horrific abuse. Her body was riddled with scars and acid burns. She has damaged knees and her ears have been shorn, likely with scissors. It is believed that the dog was overbred and used as a bait dog during dog fights.

Through a live, nationwide comedy show with performers such as Bill Burr, Kaley Cuoco and Whitney Cummings, Rebecca’s Stand Up for Pits Foundation raises money to positively advocate and educate about the true nature of Pibbles (kind, loving, sweet, gentle).

Angel and Rebecca are also hoping to speak to President Obama in Washington DC on May 3, 2014 at the One Million Pibble March she is organizing on the west lawn at the Capitol from 12:30 – 2:00 pm.

Screen shot 2014-03-29 at 12.18.49 PM

“My goal is to create safe and humane communities for humans and pets by advocating, educating and offering solutions,” said One Million PIBBLE March organizer Rebecca Corry.  “This is not just an animal issue; it is a social issue that affects us all. It is proven people who commit violent acts against animals will likely — and most often times do go on to — commit crimes against humanity.  The targeting of pit bull terriers is an obvious reflection of a broken society, but one that can be fixed.  The PIBBLE March provides us a national platform to be the voice of millions of voiceless victims, and we will be heard. Abuse and discrimination can no longer be tolerated.”

The event is attracting attendees from all over the United States as well as Canada, England and Germany. With more than 5,000 registered attendees to date and growing

Roo Yori, pet parent to Hector (a former dog of Michael Vick’s Bad Newz Kennels) and Wallace, world champion disc dog, will be one of the guest speakers along with numerous celebrities, sports figures, and comedians.

“I think any time you have a large group of people standing up for dogs that need help, it’s a good thing. Dogs need people to be their voice when it comes to laws and policies, so I’m honored to be chosen as one of the speakers to try and make positive change. I hope I do them proud,” said Roo.

  •     Leah Brewer, owner of the first-ever hero Pibble, Elle the Hero Dog of 2013

While Angel and some of the speaker’s dogs will be in attendance, the event is focused on human voices for their dogs. Other dogs will not be allowed at the event. Here’s why:

“Dogs are not allowed at the march because, simply put, dogs cannot change laws, the U.S. Capitol is not a dog park and this is not an opportunity to make it one. This is an opportunity for humans to be their voice. Having dogs there provides no impact and offers no solutions to ending discrimination and abuse. In addition, putting any dog of any breed in a stressful situation while trying to advocate for them is reckless and quite honestly, stupid. This event is happening for two very specific reasons:  to end discrimination and abuse. The only way that can happen is if humans attend. I can understand wanting to bring your dog, but the United States Capitol West Lawn will be respected.”

“The hardest part about saving dogs is humans.” — Rebecca Corry

You know that as far as I am concerned, our society is completely backwards in the way it treats victims of most crimes. Too many times the rapists, abusers and real criminals get off scot free and the victims are blamed. Blaming pit bulls is like blaming black people for slavery, the Jews for the Holocaust, and/or victims of abuse and rape for the depraved acts of their abusers and rapists. This HAS to change.

If dogs could talk,  I am 1,000% sure that if given the choice between fighting other dogs and living a desperate lonely terrifying life on chains, being overbred, being thrown into pit rings as bait dogs, and ultimately dying a horrific bloody death, that the dogs would choose instead to be someone’s beloved pet, safe inside the home, a family member, with a comfortable life. And they also LOVE staying at pet friendly hotels.

Which makes me think of my darling Cici. Yesterday i came out to the living room where her crate is. She usually rests in it. But instead, I found her lounging on the couch, all spread out, comfortable in her habitat. When I came near, she wagged her tail, rolled onto her back and showed me her belly for rubbing. Gee, what a life she has !  A truly pampered Polka Dot Princess.  And she deserves it just as all pets do.

AND please take a moment to remind Mr. Obama we will be there and that he is more than welcome!!

On August 21st, 2013 President Obama joined the fight for Pit Bulls by making an official statement against Dog Breed Specific Legislation. Angel (the inspiration for the PIBBLE march) and PIBBLE march organizer, Rebecca Corry, were featured in the article

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/20/obama-breed-specific-legislation_n_3785911.html

Mr. Obama has been officially invited to the PIBBLE rally on May 3rd. HERE IS WHERE ALL OF YOU COME IN!!!

Marchers, Rally Attendees and Supporters –

WE are urging EVERYONE to email him with the message below AT LEAST once a week between now and the rally (32 days from now!). To make this as simple as possible, please follow these instructions:

Go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/submit-questions-and-comments and fill out the “Contact the White House” form.
In the “Who are you trying to contact?” field, select “The White House and President Obama.”
Enter your personal information.
In the “Subject” field, select “Civil Rights.”
In the “Comment” box, cut-and-paste the following message.

write to President Obama:

“Thank you for standing opposed to Breed Specific Legislation. On Saturday, May 3rd, I will be showing my support by attending the first ever One Million PIBBLE rally on the West Lawn of the US Capitol, from 12:30-2:00pm. We are participating in this peaceful demonstration in an effort to end discrimination (BSL) and abuse (dog fighting is bigger now than ever before). We hope the power of our collective voices, in this national forum, will help educate offenders and legislators alike. We would be deeply honored if you would come and address us with a few words of support and encouragement of your own, at this historic event. This is as much a social issue as it is an animal issue and it can be fixed. PLEASE join us in our effort to make communities safe and humane for humans and pets by being the preeminent voice of thousands of America’s voiceless victims! Thank you for your consideration.”

Please be CONCISE, RESPECTFUL. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEARD ON BEHALF OF MILLION OF VOICELESS VICTIMS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY TO STATE POLITICAL OPINIONS SO PLEASE BE THE VOICE THAT PIT BULL TERRIERS SO MUCH DESERVE. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

Thank you.

This is Victoria. She died a hero Friday. She hid her first graders in the cabinets and closets after hearing the gunfire. When the shooter came to her classroom, she told him that her students were in the gym. He then gunned her down and moved on. She saved the lives of all of her students. She deserves to be remembered for her bravery.

Cici likes to bark at the birds, trucks that make too much noise, and chases the birds, too. Sometimes in the house or yard, she sees invisible creatures that she barks at, too… Can it be that Clint Eastwood has dog eyes and can see invisible and/or made-up creatures, too?  the Rebarklikans were up to their old tricks at the RNC and treated everyone to some wild entertainment.

Some news hounds tell us that Pittie Pit Bull is also making a run for the White House, for President, and is the woofiest way to go… There’s a Yorkie for VP, what do you think???

The Republican philosophy: America is a company, corporations are people, the president is a chair.

http://politicalhumor.about.com/b/2012/08/31/clint-eastwoods-empty-chair-routine.htm

President Obama on the GOP convention: “It was a rerun. We’d seen it before. You might as well have watched it on a black-and-white TV.”

“The 82-year-old Hollywood icon introduced Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney with a rambling 12-minute improvisation that included a rude “interview” with an empty chair purportedly occupied by an invisible Obama.

“Was he offended?

“One thing about being president or running for president — if you’re easily offended, you should probably choose another profession.” Obama said with a smile.”

“Conservatives haven’t been attacking Barack Obama for the last four years, they’ve been screaming at a fantasy, a strawman of their own creation.

“Conservatives haven’t been attacking the actual president, instead they’ve been losing their minds over a supposed Muslim Communist Nazi Socialist Kenyan who wants to give everybody “free” healthcare by destroying capitalism through death panels convened by the New World Order of leftist radicals secretly controlled by Bill Ayers and the Black Panthers through the Federal Reserve and a program of forced vaccinations which causes young girls to become whores and which in turn forces young men to become crazed mass killers which is, of course, a false flag operation by the Obama Administration to usher in the United Nations who will confiscate our guns and herd us all into FEMA Death Camps of Death where everybody will be forced into an unending string of gay marriages and drone launched abortions in order to destroy the free market, give everybody free birth control, and bring about the End Times. Also, Nazis.

“Clint Eastwood’s act at the RNC was a brilliant analogy for the republican party itself.

“Seriously.

“Folks, nothing, and I mean nothing, sums up the current state of the once great party of Lincoln like a raving old white guy yelling at an empty chair while everybody in the audience uncomfortably tries to pretend like nothing’s wrong.”

“Team Romney sent an actor out to wing it on national television.

“They screwed up the un-screwuppable. This was like having one of the featured guests at the State of the Union drop his trousers on camera. If you botch that, how are you going to execute the more complicated constitutional duties? Mitt Romney can’t handle Clint Eastwood trying to do him a favor, and he wants to take on unfriendly negotiations with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Vladimir Putin?”

Americans love dogs

Americans love dogs but do we love women?  just throwing that out since it seems like some people who call themselves American are waging war on women. They also don’t seem to care that much about dogs, animals, the environment, other people either.

in life, we have choices to make every day…  and sometimes they are easy and other times they are difficult…

and it is not always as simple as this…

vs

Mitt Romney drove to Canada with the family Irish setter on the roof of the car. and even now dogs do not like Romney…

Here’s the follow up: Barbara Bush comforting the dog, post-Romney encounter…Barbara: Don’t worry honey, he’s not going on vacation with us.

and what about this menu?  is there anything on it that working or unemployed or seniors or women or middle class or poor people want????

Romney does not care about the poor, wants to cut funding to Planned Parenthood, and wants women to go back to 1950…

Roe v. Wade
Favors a repeal
“I’d like to see Roe v. Wade overturned and allow the states and the elected representatives of the people, and the people themselves, have the ability to put in place pro-life legislation.”
5 June 2007, Republican Presidential Debate (Manchester, New Hampshire)

http://2012.republican-candidates.org/Romney/Abortion.php

President Obama echoed his support for the Supreme Court’s pro-choice decision in Roe v. Wade.

“Government should not intrude on private family matters,” Obama said in a statement, adding that he also supports policies to prevent “unintended pregnancies.”

Romney was weak about Rush Limbaugh, “It’s not the language I would have used,” Romney said of Limbaugh’s comments  while President Obama called Sandra Fluke personally.

Obama said at a news conference that he’d called Fluke after Limbaugh made his comments “because I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way, and I don’t want them attacked or called horrible names because they’re good citizens.”

Obama on women’s health care

A 32-page regulatory proposal offers options for providing preventive care, and President Barack Obama‘s health care law requires health plans to cover prevention at no cost to the consumer.

Romney’s support for personhood amendments and the Blunt Amendment is evidence that he’s going as far to the right as anyone can when it comes to women’s reproductive health.

President Obama: auto industry bailout

Romney would have allowed the industry to collapse and lose 1.3 million

manufacturing jobs

Romney wants to tax the middle class and poor while President Obama wants to tax the 1%…

Romney’s pitch is that he’s Mr. Fix It — a corporate turnaround artist with an MBA. Looking for a candidate who’ll get the economy moving and put people back to work? Just so long as you overlook his only leadership experience in government and all the mass layoffs he orchestrated at his vulture-capital firm, Romney’s your guy.

What happens to that pitch if the economy improves, growth strengthens, and job creation picks up steam before the election? I don’t know. More importantly, I don’t think Romney knows, either.

Santorum’s pitch is altogether different. Whether the unemployment rate is 8.3% or 3.8%, Santorum is offering a message about culture, values, and religion. He doesn’t like contraception; he wants to restrict access to pornography; and a spirited defense of the separation of church and state makes him, in Santorum’s words, want to “vomit.”

As the former senator put it yesterday, “My campaign doesn’t hinge on unemployment rates and growth rates. It’s something more foundational that’s going on.”

Whether one finds Santorum’s agenda offensive or not, at least this is coherent and consistent. Unlike so many Republicans, he’s not rooting for bad economic news before the election, because the health of the economy is independent of his right-wing societal vision.

There are bills like these being considered and/or passed in states that have GOP governors and/or where the GOP has the majority.

GOP legislators have sought to exempt religious orgs from having to offer health insurance that covers contraceptives.

…In Arizona and Kansas, Republican state legislators pushed bills allowing a doctor to lie about the health status of your fetus for fear you might opt to get an abortion.

And should you make that harrowing choice, Virginia Republicans, following in the footsteps of their colleagues in a number of other states, passed a law requiring that you have an ultrasound first.

But the women behind Government Free VJJ have a different kind of approach:

“Follow these simple steps,” the website beckons…

1. Knit or crochet a lady part
2. Print a message to enclose
3. Mail it to your male Senator or Congressional Representative [links provided]
4. We’re in the process of arranging hand delivery to congressional offices in Washington, until then, go ahead and mail yours in!
5. Record your items in this spreadsheet so we can track which representatives still need to receive a “gift”!
6. Don’t forget to thank your representative if he respects women and supports our rights.

There are kntting and crochet patterns available to make a “snatchel.”
