Petfinder iOS and Android Apps Help Prospective Pet Parents On the Go

Petfinder, the top digital destination for adoptable pets and the online leader in responsible pet ownership, announces the release of its new Android app today, on the heels of an updated iOS app. With more than one million downloads of Petfinder’s iPhone app to date, pet lovers are using their smartphones to make smart decisions about adoption when looking to add a furry friend to the fold.

Both apps are free and make searching for adoptable pets a breeze. Users have access to more than 375,000 pets from approximately 14,000 Petfinder member shelters and rescues. Features spanning both the iOS and Android apps include:

·       Searchability by type, breed, gender, age, shelter or rescue group and more;

·       Easy sharing of pets with friends via email, Facebook and Twitter;

·       Ability to save pets as favorites and make notes about individual adoptables;

·       Contact information and directions to the rescue group associated with each pet; and

·       Touching Happy Tail adoption stories.

Potential adopters and current pet parents also can find out more about the right pet for their family with handy dog and cat breed guides and access Petfinder’s library of video training materials to help ensure a happy, lifelong relationship with their pets.

“We have seen enormous growth in the number of people accessing Petfinder and our resources through mobile devices over the past several years, and we are excited to be able to expand our offerings to consumers,” said Iain Langridge, General Manager of Petfinder. “Petfinder has facilitated more than 20 million adoptions since its founding, and these apps will help us better serve prospective pet parents and our members and, most importantly, to find homes for millions more adoptable pets.”

Both Petfinder apps are currently available on the iTunes App Store and the Android Marketplace.

And before you can say woof woof woof, you and your four legged furry friend will be going to the beach together. Make sure that they have a driver’s license before you let them drive… Happy Adoptions !!!

Enter to Win: Traveling dogs

Does your dog drive you crazy or drive you to the store?

Be sure to READ BELOW TO FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN WIN CASH !!!

Fur in the breeze, adventure in her blood, born to be wild Cici loves car rides, no matter where we go. She will hop in anyone’s car, (although she has her preferred vehicle, a Subaru, of course). She loves to go to the beach, shopping mall, dog park or to her favorite pet friendly winery. She even loves going to the vet. But, some dogs do not enjoy driving in the car because they associate car driving with getting a bath or haircut and nails trimmed at the groomer or some other terrible experience (going to the vet or worse).  Dogs who fear driving in cars may throw up, drool, whine, shake, cry or otherwise make life miserable for the driver of the car (that would likely by you).

Make traveling with Dog a breeze

You can ease your dog’s anxiety in the car through a number of methods, from giving them Bach Flower Essences, Rescue Remedy, aromatherapy essential oils (a few calming drops of Lavendar on paws), a calming collar filled with aromatherapy oils and/or play some nice relaxing doggie music made for scaredy dogs like Through a Dog’s Ear by Lisa Spector.

Whenever Cici drives in the car, she is surrounded by her very own pillows and blankets and hitched up to the seat belt but many dogs would prefer and feel safer in a crate or a carrier. NEVER put your dog in the back of your truck, that is one of my pet peeves. What happens when they jump out or if you have to stop quickly? And do not ever let your dog be in the front of the car, sitting on your lap or in the shotgun seat. Much too dangerous. It also goes without saying that your dog should NEVER be put in a kennel on the top of the motor vehicle, either… for ANY length of time.

Cars Made For Traveling Dogs

Car savvy traveling dogs like Cici have voted for their favorite car to drive in. And that car is a Subaru, no matter the model. Cici and I drove our Subaru Legacy station wagon for two years all over California, Nevada and Oregon without a hitch. Well, except for running out of gas and getting a flat tire. Subaru cars are ideally suited to and made for traveling dogs. And their Dog Tested Dog Approved campaign, that we’ve mentioned a couple of times, shows dogs the best car to drive. Grant Weber, Subaru Canine Sales Associate devotes his life selling cars specifically to dogs. Dogs of ALL breeds, little dogs, big dogs, scaredy dogs, brave dogs and most especially traveling savvy dogs.

Watch him sell cars to dogs here…   click on the link…It is funny and Made for Dogs… especially dogs who LOVE to EAT !!!!

As part of their campaign, Subaru has launched a facebook app that is FUN and offers some  things to do, such as the Subaru Dog Matcher, the Ask the Expert, Put Your Dog in a Subaru, and the Canine Driver’s License Division (you can make a driver’s license for your dog – I made one for Cici, make sure you put in a fake address).

Grant Weber suggested Cici would prefer a Subaru Outback for our next car and with the app we can even build our own Outback to our specifications, and the car even comes with snacks, how cool is that?

Cici would look great
in a Subaru Outback.

With the go-anywhere capability of the Outback, you can get away from that fenced-in yard of yours and sniff out some real adventure…

Honking Dogs on the road with Subaru

Cici and I love to travel. We traveled for a few years in our Subaru Legacy station wagon. We drove all over California, Oregon and Nevada. The Subaru got great gas mileage and had lots of room. Cici took up the back seat filled with pillows and toys. She slept while I did the heavy driving. When we got to the destination, she would shake off and be ready to roll. Her excitement at discovering a new place, having an adventure, was contagious.  She is my polka dot princess now with  four different beds to sleep on, her choice every day and night. She is also my best friend and has earned her place by my side. She has her own driver’s license now so the next road trip we go on, she is gonna take the wheel and head out on the highway. Born to be Cici…

F9E60FBF-09EB-3C2B-4603-64CC755EF2EA-l

We got her new driver’s license from the Subaru Facebook page. It is the same interactive app that we had fun with when watching the Puppy Bowl last weekend. Have you used the app yet? Just download the “IntoNow” app on your tablet or mobile device here  http://blogp.ws/Wxa8ia   There are all kinds of nifty applications… you can even find the perfect Subaru for your dog (The Subaru Dog Matchmaker) and other goodies. Check it out!

Alas, our Subaru Legacy had more than 260,000 miles on it so we need a new vehicle to drive to the beach, dog park, and everywhere. We would love another Subaru, maybe a Forester. We miss driving to the shopping mall (Petco and Pet Smart), the banks (where she would always get cookies and treats from the nice people), and even the grocery store. Cici loves to meet and greet new people. And if there is food involved, even better.

Beep beep beep beep the horn went beep beep beep… do you remember the song, Little Nash Rambler? I imagine that is how Cici would drive the car, beeping the horn the whole way…

Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep
While riding in my Subaru
What to my surprise
A little Nash Rambler was following me
About one third my size
The guy musta wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn
I’ll show him that a Subaru is not a car to scorn
Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

[Slowly]
I pushed my foot down to the floor
To give the guy the shake
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind
He still had on his brake
He musta thought his car had more guts
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep)
I’ll show him that a Subaru is not a car to scorn
Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

[Normal speed]
My car went into passing gear
And we took off with gust (whoosh)
Soon we were going ninety
Musta left him in the dust
When I peeked in the mirror of my car
I couldn’t believe my eyes
The little Nash Rambler was right behind
You’d think that guy could fly
Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

[Quickly]
Now we were doing a hundred and ten
This certainly was a race
For a Rambler to pass a Subaru
Would be a big disgrace
The guy musta wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep)
I’ll show him that a Subaru is not a car to scorn
Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

[Very quickly]
Now we’re going a hundred twenty
As fast as I can go
The Rambler pulled along side of me
As if we were going slow
The fella rolled down his window
And yelled for me to hear
“Hey buddy how do I get this car outta second gear?”

***

Cici has cat issues so when I bring her to meet Grant Weber at the Subaru lot, she will let the kitties know she is boss if there are any felines around.

It is a good thing that Grant Weber knows how to speak dog and caters to each breed. He knows how to give each dog what they need and the best deal. You know that poodles want different accommodations and specifications than German Shepherds, right. And polka dot princesses need extra comfort, cargo space and zoom for their bucks. You could say that Subaru is an equal opportunity mutt pleaser. And yet, their doggie commercials are just as much fun for humans. Don’t you agree?

Funny Pet Photos

your dog/cat can have their own business card…

New Apps Help Pets Get Adopted by Making Funny Pet Photos Easy

Of the 6-8 million animals being cared for in shelters, 3-4 million will be euthanized this year.  Mobile app developer Cat Game Apps wants to help more of these animals find “forever homes” with their new apps Pet Royals and Pet Holidays.

“Engaging photos help more pets get noticed” says developer Tim Wilson.  “And our new apps make it easy for anyone to make engaging photos.”

The new apps make it easy to add accessories to photos.  Users simply take a photo of an animal’s face with their smart phone or tablet, choose the accessories they want to add to the photo, and then adjust the size and position of the accessories using their fingers. Text bubbles with quotes can be added to the images also.

Pet Royals includes a variety of royal accessories like crowns, jewels, hats and fascinators.  Pet Holidays includes holiday accessories such as Santa hats and reindeer antlers as well as items for Valentine’s and St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July.

“Every shelter understands the importance of good photos in increasing adoption rates.  But it is not just about getting great pictures of the animals, it is about creating attention getting images and Pet Royals and Pet Holidays make it easy for anyone to create fun and engaging pet photos.” adds Wilson.

Finished images, can be saved to the camera roll, emailed, or shared on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest. “These apps make a shelter’s social media efforts, newsletters and blog posts much more interesting without spending a fortune.” says Wilson. “Photos can also be uploaded to Shutterfly to make thank you cards, donation reminders or fundraising event invitations.”

This app is not just for shelters.  Tim explains, “If you are a small business with an office pet, an animal groomer or a blogger who focuses on the pet market, these apps are also a great way to connect to your audience in a viral way.  You can also just have fun with your own pets!”

For more fundraising ideas visit Cat Game Apps LLC.  The basic versions ofPet Royals and Pet Holidays are free and available on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.

Getting a hot doggone date

With summer coming up, more and more singles will be taking their dogs for walks at the local park (an especially good place to find a date).   Klooff just conducted an extensive survey of men and women to get their attitudes on what you can learn about a person from their choice of pet.

The result is the world’s top five dog breeds for attracting the girl or guy of your dreams:

TOP FIVE BREEDS THAT MADE WOMEN MORE ATTRACTIVE

(in reverse order, with “1” being the best):

5. Beagles
4. Poodles
3. Chihuahuas
2. Labrador Retrievers
1. Golden Retrievers

TOP FIVE BREEDS THAT MADE MEN MORE ATTRACTIVE:

5. French Bulldogs
4. Siberian Huskies
3. Labrador Retrievers
2. Golden Retrievers
1. German Shepherds

Men are overwhelmingly more likely to see a woman who owns a Golden Retriever as girlfriend material than a woman who owns a Chihuahua.
The vast majority of men think that a woman who owns a Chihuahua is more likely to be dumb.

and if you want to be seen around town with the richest dog (oh no, he’s married now)… here’s Beast, Mark Zuckerberg’s dog…

More details about Klooff can be found at:

Klooff is the new iPhone app for pet lovers.

About Klooff

Klooff is the premier app for Pet Lovers, where users can express themselves and show off their pets in a fun and stylish way. With Klooff, users can create profiles for their pets, post pics of them to Facebook and create cool custom products featuring their lovable pooches and kitties.

The app is also super fun to use, since Klooff users can earn points and badges, according to how active they are with their pets.  Badges are earned when other users vote on Klooff pet photos. Pets can be voted as “Cute” “Posh”, “Tuff” or “Funny.” For example, Fluffie, who has 5 pics that score more than 10 “Cute” votes, will earn the “Cute” badge.

Users can also advance through several different “Pet Lover” levels to prove just how much of an animal lover they really are.
