We have a dream…

my dog and i have a dream. she dreams about chasing cats and bunny rabbits and I dream about hot… oh not that kind of dream, she says… wouldn’t it be great in life if  you could tell the honest guys and gals from the dishonest guys and gals? well read on…

How would you feel if the group you were donating to because they promised to be there for the animals actually sent the neediest ones to a place which neglected, abused, and then killed them? How would you feel if the animal rights group you supported was using your donations to poison “healthy” and “perfect” animals? Would you be upset? Would you feel sick to your stomach? Would you feel betrayed? If you donate to PETA, HSUS or the ASPCA that is exactly how you should feel…

‎”Truth in advertising”

PETA-Dumpster-vs-Crate_edited-1

Ten out of ten pets surveyed indicated that they would prefer crate training to a ride in the PETA death van. Ten out of ten pets surveyed would prefer eating treats bought at the Piggly Wiggly over being thrown dead into the dumpster behind the Piggly Wiggly. Apparently, opposing No Kill shelter reforms isn’t crazy enough for them, the wingnuts at PETA also find it necessary to show how little they know about the care of pets that are actually, you know, still breathing, that they are campaigning against the use of crates. Above is an actual PETA ad that has been edited for truthfulness. ~Valerie Hayes

Let us abolish the pound!

Today, the number one cause of death for healthy dogs and cats in the U.S. is the local animal shelter. Moreover, the first time many animals experience neglect or abuse for the first time is at the very institution that is supposed to protect them from it—the local shelter. Had shelters never existed, and it was proposed that a system of abusive death camps be opened to round up and kill millions of animals every year, how many of us would support such a notion? How many of us would argue that the homeless animals for whom there was hope, whom we saw being fed, cared for and even adopted by our neighbors, would be better off entering a facility where they are likely to be abused and likely to be killed? In fact, over 150 years ago, when the impounding and killing of homeless animals was a new concept, the great Henry Bergh, founder of the animal protection movement in North America, fought the existence and proliferation of such institutions, arguing that stray dogs should be left alone, once famously asserting, “Let us abolish the pound!”

Twelve years ago, there were none. Today, 94 communities representing about 300 cities and towns across America have save rates between 90% and 99% and the numbers continue to grow. In fact, in 2012, over one new community per week achieved a save rate above 90%. The No Kill revolution is on the march.

Please join over 30 other speakers at the No Kill Conference in Washington, D.C. this summer as we celebrate those achievements and teach you how to do the same in your community.

What kind of world do YOU want to live in? A world where pit bulls are killed because of the way that they look? A world where the innocent victims of dog fights, the dogs, and abused plus responsible owners and their dogs are threatened, jailed or killed instead of the dog fighters and abusers being held accountable for their crimes.

What does your conscience tell you to do?

We are a nation of animal lovers, and we, and the animals we love, deserve better. We deserve shelters that reflect our progressive and compassionate values, not thwart them. We now have a solution to shelter killing and it is not difficult, expensive, or beyond practical means to achieve. Only one thing stands in the way of its widespread implementation: a deeply troubled and dysfunctional animal protection movement that undermines the effort at every turn. Through the No Kill movement, we can create a country in which it is illegal to kill animals who enter shelters. We can create a country in which children are raised with higher expectations for the treatment of animals—and an understanding and acceptance that animals have legal rights. And we can establish powerful advocates for the well-being of animals in every community by reclaiming the thousands of shelters across our nation, and reorienting them away from killing and back to their founding missions: to advocate for and save animals.

This is Victoria. She died a hero Friday. She hid her first graders in the cabinets and closets after hearing the gunfire. When the shooter came to her classroom, she told him that her students were in the gym. He then gunned her down and moved on. She saved the lives of all of her students. She deserves to be remembered for her bravery.

Tis the Season

In this economy, a group of creative animal loving folks came up with a great idea. They’ve created a new website that enables folks to donate money to your favorite animal shelter/rescue organization. As you shop, a percentage is donated to the shelter/rescue. How cool is that?  And if you do not see your favorite listed, you can add them to the list. It is a FREE service.

When you shop through AdoptAShelter.com at one of the retail merchants, Adopt-A-Shelter™ is paid a commission.  Adopt-A-Shelter™ directs 100% of the donation displayed on AdoptAShelter.com directly to your shelter / organization. Prices, customer service and discounts are all the same at stores such as PetSmart, Best Buy and online at Amazon and others.  And you do not need to register with the Adopt a Shelter site, or login or subscribe to anything !

Easy as 1 2 3… Adopt a shelter/rescue … Go Shopping … Shelter/Rescue Gets Money

Start shopping and donating.  Before you know it, the holidays will be here…

Adoptashelter.com

If you need step by step instructions like I did here goes:
Go to www.adoptashelter.com

Under “1 Choose a Shelter to Adopt.” Click on “Search.”

It will drop down a list of shelters & rescues.

Click on your group.

If you don’t see your favorite group,  Go up to the bar and click on “Add a Shelter.” Fill out the information. It may take a day for your group to be approved.

Once you’ve clicked on your shelter, an orange square appears that says, “Shop Now.” Click on it.

A list of types of stores will appear.

Click on Amazon. Because it carries everything, Amazon appears under every category.

Once you click on the store, it takes you to the store’s website. You shop as you would ordinarily shop.

Spend lots of money! Buy cool stuff.

and when you go shopping with your dog, here’s some tips for doggie etiquette:

dogs deserve so much better

Update: Sad news… not only has there been a lawsuit with allegations of a stolen dog, but now the organization’s leader, Tamira Thayne, is being accused of misappropriation of funds and other illegal actions. She has been living on the property. There were 150 rescue reps around the country, now there are 25. Shannon Allen, the national rescue coordinator just quit.  And now it seems that the Good Newz Rehab Center is a bust, going belly up.

http://www.wtkr.com/news/wtkr-surry-dog-rescue-problems,0,2898847.story

Tamira from Dogs Deserve Better has rescued about 150 dogs off of chains…  Cici cannot imagine why humans would have dogs at all if they just put them outside on chains and never cuddle with them, play, and enjoy one another.

a happy tail from the road…

Skipper, formerly named “Spike” has been fostered at my house for over a year. Skipper was found on an outer road chained to a tree with another dog “Walker”. Skipper was very skiddish when he came off the chain, very jumpy, he did not like to be pet or have any affection, but in a year’s time he has come a long way and now loves to… snuggle!  Now the dog has been adopted by a grad college student, very responsible, named Hanna.  Congratulations !!!

The nonprofit organization has a network of people around the country who rescue dogs off of chains and dogs who are penned up.

http://www.dogsdeservebetter.org/reps.html

Changing laws

Heather Carpenter, an Orlando Florida Dogs Deserve Better rep, has compiled a basic ‘to-do’ list for changing laws… check it out… there are letters and step by step instructions.

http://www.dogsdeservebetter.org/laws.html

The good news is there are communities across the United States that DO have laws regarding chaining. Dogs Deserve Better favorites are Maumelle, Arkansas; Okaloosa, Florida; New Hanover, North Carolina; Lawton, Oklahoma; and Electra, Texas. where dogs are not allowed to be chained outside AT ALL! Other communities have laws which permit chaining, but only for a limited time.

Dogs Deserve Better is turning Bad Newz Kennels into GOOD NEWS.  On July 15 the property will be open for visitors, the public is welcome. DDB  needs A LOT of volunteers to get fencing up and a lot of work to be done in preparation and they need donations to make this all happen for the dogs…

http://www.dogsdeservebetter.org/volunteer.html

http://www.dogsdeservebetter.org/donations.html

In California, there are laws that a dog cannot be on a chain for longer than three hours.  This was news to me since my neighbors had their dog Lola on a chain 24/7… have not heard Lola in awhile and am wondering what happened to her. I hope that the people gave her away to someone who is giving her a good loving home.

Tamira suggests if you see a dog being abused or on a chain, to take photos and videos for evidence as many as you can.  Then contact Animal Control (local), SPCA, the police, the proper authorities. including rescue groups in your area. If they take care of the problem, great. If not, make a big fuss. Be vocal and visible. Start a Facebook page. Contact the media. Get a group together yourself. Be a Light. Be a Presence. Make phone calls, write letters, start petitions. Do all that you need to do to Get the Dog to Safety, a new Loving Forever Home, if necessary.

seriously? I spearheaded a campaign… wow…

Seriously, that was her BIG STATEMENT that people were all anxiously awaiting ALL DAY. Are you kidding me.

Yes, I am guilty of empowering people … Rachel shuts people up… She terrorizes people. She hurts people for daring to speak and ask a simple question. I gave them a place to RAISE THEIR VOICES… After all, this is AMERICA. Not Rachel world.

This investigative reporter is on the job finding out more about serial cyberbullies, interviewing lawyers and other legal experts, stay tuned. But meanwhile, you can read all about what I’ve found out so far.  Most important thing is not to engage the cyberbully. They get pleasure out of hurting people, are big on power, control and love attention.

https://celiasue.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/a-bully-is-a-bully-is-a-bully/

The Patricks law page aint about Patrick, so his name should come off that page as Jestine so brilliantly points out in the above link.

After reading all of the comments that have come in from people who I’ve given a forum to speak out in public because Rachel Wolf has tried to deny them a chance to speak taking away their First Amendment rights, I am with Brandy and going to also send her a slander cease and desist letter to remove my name from her blog. Now someone told me that she has been posting her blog on Twitter. HALT CEASE AND DESIST, Rachel Wolf.

Also please read A bully is a bully is a bully. Thank you all for your support and kindness.

Rachel Wolf has done this all before, folks, read the comments by Cathy and Jeff and others. One gal posted and noticed that HERE one is allowed to speak while over there, RW’s blog and facebook page, you are banned and deleted if you gather the courage to speak.

No one knows how to reach RW, she is in hiding. why is that???  Know them by their fruits. Is she kind? No. Is she compassionate? No. What has to done for Patrick or any animals? NADA … can anyone find anything that she has done Positive for Patrick or any animal???

And what the heck does BRANDING have to do with any of this??? Patrick is NOT a brand. He’s a living breathing fur baby and so are all of the other fur babies we want to help that RW wants us to take our focus off of. Enough of giving her any attention at all. She is not deserving of it.

All Rachel did was back me up and agree that all that I said about her was TRUE. And all she did was slander me and make insinuations about me that are untrue.  And apparently this is her M.O., Modus Operandi, she has done it before (see the comments).  She seems to get her jollies off accusing people and acting like a petty tyrant.  ENOUGH!  HALT CEASE AND DESIST, Rachel Wolf.  NOW!

Dear Elephant in the Room:

The truth is that you hate me for giving you a taste of YOUR OWN MEDICINE.

1. The funny thing about the truth/facts is that they speak for themselves. All that a person has to do is actually READ my blog post and see that there are several LINKS to other blogs that wrote about Rachel Wolf BEFORE I DID. So much for the accusation that I spearheaded a campaign against her.  Plus, a bunch of people created Movement pages before I said one word. Hello.

https://celiasue.wordpress.com/2011/04/05/patricks-lawmovement-who/

I witnessed firsthand Rachel Wolf publicly shaming, insulting, threatening and bullying people for NO reason. Calling nice people names, publicly humiliating them FOR WHAT. They were simply asking her questions. Innocent questions. A LEADER would have welcomed people’s enthusiasm, initiative and creativity. A LEADER would have enjoyed that people wanted to jump in and help. A LEADER would have not tried to control everyone.  A LEADER would have brought people together not split them apart and get people bickering. A LEADER would have created PEACE, been gentle and understanding and shown some compassion for the fact that SOME if not MOST of these people probably have NOT EVER been involved in a movement before EVER in their lives.  A LEADER would not have bossed everyone around and bullied them.  People were terrified, afraid of her and her proclamations, they did not know what to do. And there were NO ANSWERS.

I sent an email and got NO RESPONSE back so I published her email to me.

I HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE for people who appoint themselves God and publicly humiliate people and call them names.

I have worked for NUMEROUS non-profit organizations including Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Animal Foundation and Head Start. All make money and are successful. And they LOVE having people volunteer their time, energy and know how important it is to JUMP ON and INTO the Limelight. They don’t hide and skulk around behind the scenes, being all mysterious, insulting people and creating dramas… trying to CONTROL everyone.

People have been coming to me complaining about Rachel Wolf. I read the other bloggers info which cleared up some things for me that I had witnessed. So I let them speak about it in private and then in a blog post. A LOT of people were upset so I spearheaded a blog post and then told people about it because people were confused and did not know why their heads were spinning. Their feelings were hurt. They were being banned, deleted, excused like bad children and exiled. They wanted to help innocent animals. Instead, they were sent away by Rachel Wolf with their heads spinning, cheeks smarting and tummies aching.  I do NOT like people crushing other people’s hearts and spirits. And that is what I witnessed Rachel Wolf doing. Time and time again.

2. This banning and deleting pages and comments for no reason has continued for two+ weeks distracting everyone, people’s work has been interrupted with having to start their pages from scratch again and again and again.  Everyone walking on egg shells.

That’s it.

No, I did not call Rachel Wolf back. Why so she could berate me and tell me that I’m an idiot?  and yes, I published her email to me because I felt she was trying to manipulate me and I published comments from folks with links.

My feeling from the beginning of all this has been GROW UP…Stop Ordering Everyone Around, Who Died and Elected Rachel Wolf Dictator in Charge of Patrick’s Law. And as had been said a few zillion times THERE IS NO FEDERAL LAW, the laws have to be changed at the local levels.

People are/were EXCITED, JOYOUS, HAPPY to be working together for a Higher Cause and the ONLY ONE in the way of their coming together has been Rachel Wolf.

Being spiritual does not mean hiding one’s head in the sand, closing one’s eyes to the truth and shutting up and going away. It means SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER in this case, a power hungry wolf.

Frankly, am sick of the big bad wolf and all of the drama and baggage she comes to town and to the Internet with. She is not the boss. She is not in charge. And she is certainly not who I want to focus on.

My joy comes in encouraging people and helping out in any and every way I can, to BE A LIGHT AND UPLIFTER OF PEOPLE’S SPIRITS…and sometimes that means SHINING LIGHT INTO THE DARKNESS.

Rachel Wolf has gotten away for far too long dumping her baggage onto others and ENOUGH IS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

She does NOT own Patrick.  If her heart were in the right place, she would NOT have acted as she has done.

At any time during this whole “campaign” she could have ACTED LIKE AN ADULT and stopped hiding, banning and deleting… but instead she hid out and raged on and plans to continue to do so.  So be it.

Oh yes, one more thing. In the three years that I have written this blog I have NOT made one penny from it… yes, it would be nice if people donated. But this is a labor of love, so be it.

I am DONE.

She accuses me and projects unto me exactly what she has been doing unto others.  Copycat.

I HEREBY DELETE RACHEL WOLF.  Control, alt. delete.

want to help to rescue a dog ?

There was the sweetest one year old lab mix black with a tiny white spot on his chest at the campground today… it’s owner left it tied up in the hot sun all day yesterday and today… I let Cici play with him this morning and really would love to take him with us … I reported it to the park and will see about finding him a good home… NO dog should be left outside in 95-100 degree weather !!!!    I left the owner a note, and splashed water all over him in the hopes of keeping him cool, too…

Cici goes with me wherever I go, Office Depot, Staples, banks, Lowe’s, and other stores allow pets so there is no reason to leave a dog tied up, especially not a puppy with a lot of energy that needs to play, run and companionship!

there was also a black feral kitten at the campground… so many animals to find good homes !!!

I found this photo at Free Will Astrology, great horoscopes, fun site…wouldn’t it be great to see people giving money/cash out to passersby on the freeway, rest areas, and supermarkets and shopping malls?  You’ve been blessed… Give to someone you love today and Pay it Forward !!!

free weekly giveaway ends tomorrow… yurts anyone?

ok, you have one more day, the last few days no one else has submitted any entries… which makes us think that we should give people a shorter amount of time… for the next giveaway, you will have a day or two… Internet time is faster than real time…   we have some wonderful new surprises and resources coming up…

yesterday, while writing about yurts and affordable and alternative housing for my blog for the Seattle newspaper, I came across two cute photos (below)… a dog in a yurt and a couple of llamas in a yurt…since I don’t yet know how to post photos there, and since they are animals, thought I’d post them here for you to enjoy… and if you don’t know and want to know what a yurt is, visit my other blog below (hint: a yurt is a round or circular or dome housing structure used by nomads in Mongolia, Russia and even in the USA)…  am thinking that they will come in handy on some land for the K9 healing center, some yurts for the animals, a yurt for myself, for staff and guests… yurts are in campgrounds across America, there are yurt bed and breakfast inns, and yurts have endured extreme weather such as snow, rain, and heat… they are extremely affordable… portable… and easy to put up, good for emergency relief shelter, nomads, dog kennels, dog weddings, mobile offices, writer’s retreat, artists studio, dog camps, doggie daycare and doggie education centers.  Women writers with dogs retreat and healing center…

If anyone would like to donate land, yurts, expertise and other resources for the doggie healing and education center, please let me know.  we will need to set up a 5013c non-profit status, grants, and donations… am going to announce a Creative Expression contest this week which will help launch and fund the healing center so get in on the ground floor, for the pups.
